I am proud to announce that this January, I became a Candidate for Jefferson District Court Judge Division #1. I will be on your ballot in the Primary Election on May 20, 2014.
I am the eldest child of eight born to Bonnie and Charles Taylor, a compassionate therapist/social worker and a union electrician at Ford's LAP plant and union member of IBEW and UAW. Now a working mother, business owner, public servant and lifetime Louisvillian, I inherited from my dedicated parents my hard work ethic, my passion to serve, and the drive to work my way through business and law school. Immediately after the bar, I hung my shingle in the heart of downtown, serving Jefferson and surrounding counties, focusing my practice primarily on family and district court cases.
I have always had a passion to serve my community as a judge, but my desire was solidified during my judicial externship for Judge Ann O'Malley Shake, prior to her run for Kentucky Supreme Court. The externship afforded me the opportunity to sit on the bench with, learn from and observe highly-respected judges of all levels of the court.
For years in my legal practice, I have traveled throughout the state litigating cases. Along the way, I have noted positive attributes and practices of other courts and ways to improve Jefferson County's judicial system, in preparation for when I would have the opportunity to effectuate much needed changes.
To date, I have practiced in every level of the state trial courts and the Kentucky Court of Appeals, and am licensed in federal court. But I chose to run for District Court, because as with my practice, District Court handles the cases that most affect everyone, especially the working class citizens of Kentucky. So often, judges are far removed from the issues and life challenges of everyday people. With the depth of my life experiences, extensive education and common sense approach, I will bring a fresh prospective to Jefferson District Court balanced with the ability to interpret and apply the law fairly and my passion to serve.
I am the candidate you should vote for because I am:
Together with you, I am confident that we can ensure justice is served, District Court is improved and positive changes are made for the benefit of the citizens of Jefferson County.
